| Abstract | Complex global challenges such as climate change, healthcare inequalities, technological disruption, environmental degradation, and social transformation require innovative approaches that extend beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries. Interdisciplinary innovation has emerged as an important framework for integrating knowledge, methodologies, and perspectives from multiple fields to develop comprehensive solutions. Unlike conventional innovation approaches limited to individual disciplines, interdisciplinary models encourage collaboration among researchers, industries, policymakers, communities, and technological experts. This research examines interdisciplinary innovation models and their role in addressing complex global challenges. The study adopts a conceptual research approach based on existing theories and scholarly perspectives related to interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation ecosystems, knowledge integration, and collaborative problem-solving. The research explores how different disciplines contribute complementary knowledge and capabilities for developing sustainable and impactful solutions. The analysis highlights that interdisciplinary innovation improves problem-solving capacity by combining diverse expertise, encouraging creativity, and enabling holistic understanding of complex issues. Models based on university–industry–government collaboration, open innovation networks, transdisciplinary research, and knowledge ecosystems provide effective mechanisms for addressing challenges that cannot be solved through isolated approaches. The study also identifies major barriers affecting interdisciplinary innovation, including communication difficulties, differences in research methodologies, institutional limitations, resource constraints, and challenges in managing diverse stakeholder expectations. Effective interdisciplinary innovation requires supportive organizational structures, collaborative leadership, shared objectives, and mechanisms for knowledge integration. The research concludes that interdisciplinary innovation models represent essential approaches for solving complex global challenges. Future innovation systems must encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration, integrate technological and social perspectives, and create inclusive knowledge networks capable of generating sustainable solutions for global development. |
