| Abstract | Open innovation has emerged as a transformative approach for strengthening global research collaboration by enabling organizations, universities, industries, and research communities to exchange knowledge and jointly develop innovative solutions. In contrast to traditional closed innovation models, open innovation emphasizes external knowledge integration, collaborative research networks, and shared innovation processes. The increasing complexity of scientific challenges and technological advancement has made global collaboration essential for accelerating research development and improving innovation outcomes. This research examines open innovation strategies that support global research collaboration and analyses their contribution to knowledge exchange, technology development, and sustainable research ecosystems. The study adopts a conceptual research approach based on existing theoretical perspectives and scholarly discussions related to open innovation, collaborative research, knowledge management, and innovation networks. The research explores important strategies including research partnerships, digital collaboration platforms, knowledge-sharing frameworks, and university–industry cooperation. The findings indicate that open innovation strategies enhance research productivity by providing access to diverse expertise, advanced infrastructure, and global knowledge resources. Collaborative approaches enable researchers and organizations to overcome resource limitations and accelerate the transformation of ideas into impactful innovations. However, challenges related to intellectual property management, coordination complexity, trust development, and unequal participation continue to influence the effectiveness of global research collaborations. The study concludes that open innovation represents a strategic framework for building interconnected global research ecosystems. Effective collaboration requires supportive policies, transparent knowledge-sharing mechanisms, digital infrastructure, and strong partnerships among international stakeholders. By adopting open innovation strategies, research institutions and organizations can improve innovation capacity and contribute to sustainable scientific and technological development. |
