| Abstract | The transition toward knowledge-based economies has increased the importance of innovation ecosystems as strategic frameworks for economic growth, technological advancement, and social development. Modern economies increasingly depend on knowledge creation, research capabilities, digital technologies, entrepreneurial activities, and collaborative networks to generate sustainable value. Innovation ecosystems provide interconnected environments where universities, industries, governments, research organizations, and technology communities collaborate to develop new ideas, products, and solutions. This conceptual research article examines the role of innovation ecosystems in supporting future knowledge economies and analyses how collaborative innovation structures contribute to technological progress and economic competitiveness. The study explores major components of innovation ecosystems, including research networks, digital infrastructure, entrepreneurial platforms, knowledge exchange mechanisms, and policy support systems. The research highlights that successful innovation ecosystems enable faster knowledge transfer, encourage creativity, support entrepreneurship, and improve the ability of economies to adapt to technological changes. However, challenges related to resource availability, collaboration barriers, intellectual property management, digital inequality, and governance complexity influence the effectiveness of innovation ecosystems. The study concludes that innovation ecosystems represent a critical foundation for future knowledge economies. Sustainable development requires coordinated efforts among stakeholders to build open, inclusive, and adaptive innovation environments capable of supporting continuous knowledge generation and technological transformation. |
