Abstract The rapid expansion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications has transformed the way organizations collect, process, analyse, and utilize digital information. While AI technologies provide significant opportunities for innovation, automation, and intelligent decision-making, they also create complex challenges related to data privacy, security, transparency, and ethical information management. Data privacy governance has become essential for ensuring responsible AI development by establishing frameworks that protect individual rights while enabling beneficial technology adoption. This conceptual research article examines data privacy governance approaches in the era of artificial intelligence by analysing privacy frameworks, regulatory mechanisms, ethical principles, data protection strategies, and responsible AI practices. The study explores how organizations can develop effective governance models to manage AI-driven data processing while maintaining transparency, accountability, and user trust.
A conceptual research methodology is adopted through the analysis of existing scholarly literature, AI governance frameworks, privacy regulations, cybersecurity approaches, and responsible technology models. The findings indicate that effective data privacy governance can strengthen AI reliability by improving data protection, algorithmic accountability, security practices, and ethical decision-making. However, challenges related to data complexity, privacy risks, regulatory adaptation, cybersecurity threats, and technological transparency remain significant concerns. The study concludes that sustainable AI development requires integrated privacy governance frameworks that balance technological innovation with ethical responsibility and individual data protection.
