Abstract The increasing pressure on industrial systems due to resource depletion, environmental degradation, and rising waste generation has created a strong demand for sustainable transformation approaches. Traditional industrial models based on linear production and consumption patterns often result in inefficient resource utilization, excessive waste generation, and environmental challenges. Circular economy innovation models have emerged as strategic approaches that aim to redesign industrial processes through resource efficiency, waste reduction, material recovery, and sustainable value creation.
This study examines circular economy innovation models for sustainable industrial transformation by analysing their contribution to resource efficiency, waste reduction capability, industrial sustainability, and innovation performance. The research explores key circular economy approaches including closed-loop production systems, sustainable product design, industrial symbiosis, remanufacturing strategies, and digital technologies supporting circular operations. A simulation-based analytical framework is developed to compare conventional industrial models with circular innovation approaches using evaluation indicators including resource optimization, environmental impact reduction, operational sustainability, and innovation capability.
The findings demonstrate that circular economy innovation models significantly improve industrial sustainability by promoting efficient resource utilization, reducing environmental impacts, and enabling innovative production strategies. The results indicate that organizations adopting circular approaches achieve stronger capabilities in waste management, sustainable manufacturing, and long-term value creation. However, successful implementation requires addressing challenges related to technological adaptation, investment requirements, supply chain restructuring, stakeholder collaboration, and organizational transformation.
The study contributes to sustainable industrial development research by presenting circular economy innovation models as important frameworks for achieving environmentally responsible and economically efficient industrial transformation. The integration of sustainable practices, digital technologies, and innovative business models can support the development of resilient circular industrial ecosystems.
