| Abstract | The increasing importance of collaborative research networks has created a growing requirement for secure, reliable, and privacy-preserving data sharing mechanisms. Modern research collaborations frequently involve multiple institutions, international partnerships, and interdisciplinary teams that require controlled access to large and complex datasets. Traditional data exchange approaches often face challenges related to unauthorized access, privacy risks, data integrity, interoperability limitations, and governance complexity. Secure data sharing models have emerged as essential frameworks for enabling trustworthy collaboration while maintaining confidentiality and responsible data management. This study examines secure data sharing models for collaborative research networks by analysing their contribution to data protection, access control effectiveness, collaboration efficiency, and research data reliability. The research explores key secure sharing approaches including encryption-based data exchange, privacy-preserving computation, blockchain-supported data integrity mechanisms, federated data access models, and identity-based authorization frameworks. A simulation-based analytical framework is developed to compare conventional data sharing approaches with secure data sharing models using evaluation indicators including security effectiveness, privacy protection, collaboration capability, and data reliability. The findings demonstrate that secure data sharing frameworks significantly improve collaborative research environments by strengthening data protection, enhancing controlled access, and improving trust among participating institutions. The results indicate that privacy-aware technologies and intelligent access management mechanisms support more reliable research collaboration while reducing risks associated with sensitive information exchange. However, successful implementation requires addressing challenges related to interoperability, governance, computational complexity, regulatory compliance, and technical infrastructure. The study contributes to secure research computing by presenting advanced data sharing models as strategic foundations for future collaborative research ecosystems. The integration of encryption technologies, privacy-preserving mechanisms, decentralized verification approaches, and effective governance frameworks can support secure, transparent, and efficient research collaboration. |
