| Abstract | The rapid growth of Internet of Things devices, artificial intelligence applications, and connected digital services has created increasing demands for real-time data processing capabilities. Traditional cloud-centric computing architectures often face limitations related to latency, bandwidth consumption, network dependency, and response time requirements for time-sensitive applications. Edge computing has emerged as an advanced distributed computing paradigm that enables data processing closer to data generation sources, improving responsiveness, efficiency, and intelligence capabilities in modern digital environments. This study examines edge computing frameworks for real-time intelligent applications by analysing their contribution to low-latency processing, computational efficiency, intelligent decision-making, and system reliability. The research explores key edge computing components including edge nodes, distributed processing architectures, artificial intelligence-enabled edge analytics, Internet of Things integration, and real-time computational frameworks. A simulation-based analytical framework is developed to compare traditional cloud-based processing approaches with edge computing models using evaluation indicators including response efficiency, processing capability, scalability, and intelligent application performance. The findings demonstrate that edge computing frameworks provide significant improvements for real-time intelligent applications by reducing processing delays, optimizing resource utilization, and enabling faster decision-making. The results indicate that edge-based intelligence supports advanced applications such as autonomous systems, smart healthcare, industrial automation, intelligent transportation, and connected environments. However, successful implementation requires addressing challenges related to security, resource limitations, scalability, interoperability, and distributed system management. |
