Zero Trust Security Architectures for Modern Enterprise Protection

| Abstract | The increasing complexity of modern enterprise networks has significantly transformed the cybersecurity landscape, creating new challenges for protecting digital assets, applications, users, and organizational data. Traditional security architectures based on perimeter defence models have become less effective due to cloud adoption, remote work environments, mobile computing, and the expansion of interconnected digital services. Zero Trust Security Architecture has emerged as an advanced cybersecurity approach that eliminates implicit trust and requires continuous verification of users, devices, applications, and network activities. This study examines Zero Trust Security Architectures for modern enterprise protection by analysing their contribution to identity management, threat prevention, access control, security monitoring, and adaptive defence capabilities. The research explores essential Zero Trust principles including continuous authentication, least-privilege access, micro-segmentation, identity-centric security, and real-time risk assessment. A simulation-based analytical framework is developed to compare conventional perimeter-based security approaches with Zero Trust models using evaluation indicators including threat detection effectiveness, access control efficiency, security resilience, and enterprise protection capability. The findings demonstrate that Zero Trust architectures provide significant improvements in enterprise security by reducing unauthorized access risks, strengthening identity verification, and enabling adaptive security responses. The results indicate that continuous authentication and granular access management improve protection against modern cyber threats while supporting secure digital transformation. However, successful implementation requires addressing challenges related to infrastructure complexity, operational integration, user management, privacy concerns, and organizational readiness. |
