| Abstract | The increasing interconnectedness of societies through globalisation, migration, digital communication, and international collaboration has created a growing need for effective cross-cultural communication and global citizenship awareness. In contemporary environments, individuals frequently interact with people from diverse cultural, linguistic, and social backgrounds, making intercultural understanding an essential competence for personal, educational, and professional development. Cross-cultural communication extends beyond the exchange of information by involving the interpretation of cultural values, social norms, communication styles, and diverse perspectives. At the same time, global citizenship represents an awareness of shared human responsibilities and the ability to participate constructively in an interconnected world. This study examines the relationship between cross-cultural communication competence and global citizenship by analysing how intercultural awareness, communication skills, cultural openness, and social responsibility influence individuals’ engagement with global communities. The research adopts an analytical framework based on intercultural communication indicators, cultural awareness dimensions, and global citizenship behaviour patterns. A structured evaluation approach is used to examine how communication competence contributes to greater understanding, tolerance, and participation in diverse social environments. The findings indicate that individuals with stronger intercultural communication abilities demonstrate higher levels of global awareness, respect for cultural diversity, and willingness to engage in international social issues. The study highlights that effective cross-cultural communication is a fundamental component of global citizenship because it enables individuals to overcome cultural barriers, reduce misunderstandings, and develop meaningful relationships across societies. The research contributes to communication studies, social education, and global development discussions by emphasising the importance of intercultural learning, inclusive communication practices, and responsible participation in a globally connected society. |
