Workplace Stress and Employee Psychological Well-Being

| Abstract | Workplace stress has become an increasingly significant concern in contemporary organisations due to changing work structures, increasing professional demands, technological transformation, and evolving expectations regarding employee productivity. Although moderate levels of workplace pressure may encourage motivation and performance improvement, prolonged and unmanaged stress can negatively affect employees’ psychological well-being, emotional stability, job satisfaction, and overall organisational effectiveness. Understanding the relationship between workplace stress and employee psychological health has become essential for developing healthier organisational environments and sustainable workforce management strategies. This study examines the relationship between workplace stress and employee psychological well-being by analysing how occupational demands, organisational conditions, workload intensity, workplace support, and emotional experiences influence employee mental health outcomes. The research adopts an analytical framework based on workplace stress indicators, psychological well-being measures, and organisational behaviour factors. A structured evaluation approach is used to examine the relationship between stress levels and employee well-being patterns. The findings indicate that excessive workload, limited organisational support, unclear job expectations, and insufficient work-life balance contribute significantly to psychological strain among employees. However, supportive leadership, effective communication, employee recognition, and workplace wellness initiatives demonstrate positive effects on psychological well-being. The study highlights that workplace stress should not be viewed only as an individual challenge but as an organisational issue requiring systematic intervention. The research contributes to organisational psychology and human resource management by emphasising the importance of creating supportive work environments that promote employee resilience, emotional health, and sustainable performance. The findings provide valuable insights for organisations seeking to develop effective stress management strategies and improve employee well-being. |
