| Abstract | The rapid expansion of digital technologies has significantly transformed the ways information is collected, processed, and used within contemporary societies. Digital surveillance systems, including online tracking mechanisms, artificial intelligence-based monitoring, biometric technologies, and data analytics platforms, have become increasingly integrated into governmental, organizational, and commercial environments. While these technologies provide benefits related to security, efficiency, and personalized services, they also raise important concerns regarding privacy protection, individual autonomy, and personal freedom. This study examines the relationship between digital surveillance, privacy concerns, and individual freedom through a simulation-based analytical framework. The research evaluates how surveillance intensity, data awareness, privacy perception, trust in digital systems, and perceived freedom influence individuals’ attitudes toward digital monitoring practices. A simulated dataset representing different levels of digital surveillance exposure was developed to analyse the relationship between monitoring practices and perceptions of personal autonomy. The findings indicate that individuals recognize the potential benefits of digital surveillance for security and service improvement; however, excessive monitoring is associated with increased privacy concerns and reduced perceptions of individual freedom. Higher levels of digital literacy and awareness contribute to stronger privacy protection behaviours and more informed technology usage. The study highlights the importance of balancing technological innovation with ethical governance, transparency, and individual rights. The research emphasizes that digital surveillance should be implemented through responsible frameworks that protect personal information while maintaining legitimate social objectives. Effective privacy policies, transparent data practices, and public awareness initiatives are essential for ensuring that digital technologies support society without compromising fundamental freedoms. |
