Abstract The increasing integration of digital communication technologies into adolescent life has transformed patterns of social interaction, friendship development, and identity expression. Online platforms provide young individuals with opportunities for communication, creativity, and social participation; however, they have also created new forms of interpersonal harm. Cyberbullying represents one of the most significant challenges associated with digital social environments, involving repeated online harassment, intimidation, humiliation, exclusion, or harmful communication through digital platforms.
This study examines the relationship between cyberbullying experiences and psychological effects among adolescents through a simulation-based analytical framework. The research evaluates how exposure to cyberbullying influences emotional well-being, anxiety levels, self-esteem, social confidence, and psychological adjustment. A simulated dataset representing different levels of cyberbullying exposure was developed to analyse the relationship between digital victimization experiences and adolescent psychological outcomes.
The findings indicate that increased exposure to cyberbullying is associated with negative psychological outcomes, including emotional distress, reduced self-esteem, social withdrawal, and increased psychological vulnerability. Adolescents experiencing frequent cyberbullying demonstrate greater difficulties in maintaining emotional balance and social confidence. However, supportive family environments, peer assistance, digital awareness, and institutional interventions may reduce the harmful effects of online victimization.
The study highlights that cyberbullying should be understood as both a digital communication challenge and a psychological concern requiring comprehensive prevention strategies. Strengthening digital citizenship education, improving reporting mechanisms, and providing emotional support systems are essential for protecting adolescent well-being in online environments. The research contributes to understanding the psychological consequences of cyberbullying and emphasizes the importance of creating safer digital spaces for young individuals.
