Abstract Gender equality has become a fundamental component of sustainable economic development, social progress, and inclusive growth. The participation of women in economic activities contributes significantly to productivity enhancement, household welfare improvement, poverty reduction, and broader societal development. Despite substantial progress in educational access, employment opportunities, entrepreneurship, and policy recognition, gender-based disparities continue to influence women’s participation in economic systems across different regions and sectors.
This study examines the relationship between gender equality and women’s participation in economic development through a simulation-based analytical framework. The research evaluates the influence of educational opportunities, labour market accessibility, financial inclusion, institutional support, and social empowerment on women’s economic participation outcomes. A simulated dataset representing different levels of gender-inclusive development environments was developed to analyse how equality-oriented conditions influence workforce participation, entrepreneurship potential, and economic contribution.
The findings indicate that improved gender equality conditions are associated with stronger women’s economic participation through enhanced access to education, employment, financial resources, and decision-making opportunities. Societies with supportive institutional frameworks demonstrate higher levels of women’s involvement in economic activities. However, persistent challenges including social norms, unequal opportunities, wage disparities, limited access to resources, and structural barriers continue to restrict full economic participation.
The study highlights that gender equality should be considered not only as a social objective but also as an essential economic development strategy. Creating inclusive labour markets, strengthening women’s financial independence, improving skill development opportunities, and implementing supportive policies are necessary for achieving sustainable economic growth.
