Drone Technology for Sustainable Crop Monitoring

| Abstract | Agricultural systems are increasingly affected by climate variability, resource limitations, rising production demands, and the need for sustainable food production. Traditional crop monitoring approaches often rely on manual field inspections, which may be time-consuming, costly, and limited in their ability to provide continuous information across large agricultural areas. Drone technology has emerged as an advanced solution for sustainable crop monitoring by enabling high-resolution imaging, real-time field observation, and data-driven agricultural decision-making. This study examines drone technology for sustainable crop monitoring through a conceptual analysis of unmanned aerial vehicles, remote sensing applications, multispectral imaging, artificial intelligence integration, and precision agriculture practices. The research explores how drone-based monitoring systems improve crop health assessment, resource management, early stress detection, and sustainable farming operations. The study adopts an analytical framework based on precision agriculture, remote sensing technology, digital farming, and sustainable agricultural management principles. The findings indicate that drone technologies enhance crop monitoring efficiency through accurate field mapping, vegetation analysis, disease identification, and yield estimation. However, challenges related to high investment costs, regulatory limitations, technical expertise requirements, data processing complexity, and operational constraints influence widespread adoption. The study concludes that drone-based crop monitoring provides significant opportunities for developing sustainable and intelligent agricultural systems. Integrating drone technology with artificial intelligence, sensor networks, and farmer-oriented digital platforms can improve crop management efficiency, reduce resource wastage, and support environmentally responsible farming practices. |
