Climate Finance and the Transition toward Low-Carbon Economies

| Abstract | The increasing urgency of climate change mitigation has created a critical need for financial systems that support the transition toward low-carbon economies. Traditional economic development models have largely depended on carbon-intensive industries, resulting in greenhouse gas emissions, environmental degradation, and climate-related risks. Climate finance has emerged as an essential mechanism for mobilizing investments toward renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, clean technologies, and climate-resilient development. This study examines the role of climate finance in accelerating the transition toward low-carbon economies through a conceptual analysis of green investments, sustainable financial instruments, carbon markets, renewable energy financing, and climate adaptation funding mechanisms. The research explores how financial strategies contribute to emission reduction, technological innovation, and sustainable economic transformation. The study adopts an analytical framework based on sustainable finance principles, climate policy frameworks, and low-carbon development approaches. The findings indicate that climate finance supports decarbonization by enabling investments in clean energy systems, energy efficiency improvements, green infrastructure, and environmentally responsible business models. However, challenges related to investment risks, policy uncertainty, financial accessibility, transparency issues, and developing economy constraints continue to influence climate finance effectiveness. The study concludes that climate finance is a fundamental driver of low-carbon economic transformation. Strengthening financial cooperation, improving climate investment frameworks, enhancing transparency, and promoting innovative financial mechanisms can accelerate global efforts toward sustainable and climate-resilient economies. |
