| Abstract | Climate change has become one of the most significant global challenges, affecting ecosystems, economies, and human societies through rising temperatures, extreme weather events, water insecurity, and environmental degradation. While technological and policy-based responses are essential for addressing climate risks, effective adaptation increasingly depends on active participation and involvement of local communities. Community participation enables the integration of local knowledge, social networks, and collective decision-making processes into climate adaptation strategies. This study examines the role of community participation in strengthening climate change adaptation through a conceptual analysis of participatory approaches, local resilience mechanisms, and community-based adaptation frameworks. The research explores how community engagement contributes to disaster preparedness, sustainable resource management, ecosystem protection, and climate resilience development. The study adopts an analytical approach based on existing climate adaptation literature, community development frameworks, and sustainability models. The findings indicate that community participation improves the effectiveness, acceptance, and long-term sustainability of climate adaptation initiatives. Local communities contribute valuable environmental knowledge, identify context-specific vulnerabilities, and support the implementation of adaptive measures. However, challenges related to limited resources, institutional barriers, unequal participation, lack of awareness, and governance constraints continue to affect successful implementation. The study concludes that community participation represents a critical component of climate change adaptation. Integrating local knowledge with scientific approaches, strengthening institutional support, and promoting inclusive decision-making can enhance climate resilience and support sustainable adaptation outcomes. |
