Resilient Manufacturing Systems under Supply Chain Disruptions

| Abstract | Increasing global uncertainty, geopolitical instability, natural disasters, market fluctuations, and operational interruptions have highlighted the vulnerability of traditional manufacturing systems. Modern industries depend on highly interconnected supply chains, where disruptions in raw material availability, transportation networks, supplier operations, and production capacity can significantly affect manufacturing continuity. Resilient manufacturing systems have emerged as an important approach for improving adaptability, risk management, and operational stability during uncertain conditions. This study examines the role of resilient manufacturing strategies in maintaining production continuity under supply chain disruptions. The research explores how supply chain flexibility, digital monitoring systems, supplier diversification, inventory optimization, adaptive production planning, and risk management capabilities contribute to manufacturing resilience. A conceptual analytical framework supported by simulated observations is developed to evaluate the influence of resilience strategies on manufacturing performance. The findings indicate that supply chain flexibility, digital visibility, adaptive production capability, supplier diversification, and risk mitigation practices significantly contribute to improved manufacturing resilience. However, challenges including implementation costs, technological complexity, coordination difficulties, data management issues, and organizational transformation requirements continue to influence resilience development. The study contributes to manufacturing management and supply chain research by highlighting the importance of resilient production systems for achieving operational continuity and sustainable industrial performance. The findings provide practical implications for manufacturers, supply chain managers, policymakers, and industrial decision-makers seeking effective strategies for managing disruption risks. |
