| Abstract | The increasing complexity of modern manufacturing systems has created a strong demand for intelligent decision-making approaches capable of improving production scheduling, resource utilization, and operational efficiency. Traditional production planning methods often face limitations when managing dynamic manufacturing environments involving changing demand patterns, limited resources, machine constraints, and uncertain operating conditions. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as an advanced solution for optimizing production processes through data-driven analysis, predictive modelling, and intelligent resource allocation. This study examines the role of Artificial Intelligence in improving production scheduling and resource allocation within smart manufacturing environments. The research explores how machine learning algorithms, predictive analytics, intelligent scheduling models, and automated decision-support systems contribute to improved production performance. A conceptual analytical framework supported by simulated observations is developed to evaluate the influence of AI capabilities on manufacturing optimization outcomes. The findings indicate that scheduling accuracy, resource utilization efficiency, predictive decision-making capability, production flexibility, and real-time optimization significantly contribute to improved manufacturing performance. However, challenges including data quality limitations, computational complexity, implementation costs, workforce adaptation, and cybersecurity risks continue to influence large-scale AI adoption. The study contributes to artificial intelligence and smart manufacturing research by highlighting the importance of intelligent optimization approaches for developing efficient, adaptive, and sustainable production systems. The findings provide practical implications for manufacturing engineers, operations managers, technology developers, and organizations seeking advanced solutions for production planning and resource management. |
