| Abstract | The increasing demand for sustainable product development has encouraged industries to adopt advanced manufacturing approaches that reduce material consumption, minimize waste generation, and improve production flexibility. Traditional manufacturing processes often involve significant material waste, energy consumption, and limitations in design complexity. Three-Dimensional Printing (3D Printing), also known as additive manufacturing, has emerged as an innovative technology that supports sustainable production through precise material deposition, customized product development, and efficient resource utilization. This study examines the role of Three-Dimensional Printing in sustainable product development by analysing its contribution to material efficiency, waste reduction, design optimization, manufacturing flexibility, and circular production strategies. A conceptual analytical framework supported by simulated observations is developed to evaluate the influence of 3D printing capabilities on sustainable manufacturing performance. The findings indicate that material utilization efficiency, waste reduction capability, design customization potential, production flexibility, and sustainable material integration significantly contribute to improved product development outcomes. However, challenges including material limitations, high equipment costs, production scalability issues, technical expertise requirements, and recycling difficulties continue to influence widespread adoption. The study contributes to additive manufacturing and sustainable engineering research by highlighting the importance of 3D printing technologies in developing environmentally responsible and resource-efficient production systems. The findings provide practical implications for manufacturers, product designers, researchers, and sustainability professionals seeking advanced solutions for sustainable product innovation. |
