Green Supply Chain Engineering and Industrial Sustainability

| Abstract | The increasing environmental impact of industrial activities has created a strong demand for sustainable supply chain strategies that balance economic performance with ecological responsibility. Traditional supply chain systems often involve high resource consumption, excessive transportation emissions, inefficient material utilization, and waste generation. Green supply chain engineering provides an integrated approach by combining supply chain optimization, environmental management, and sustainable engineering principles to reduce ecological impacts while maintaining operational efficiency. This study examines the role of green supply chain engineering in improving industrial sustainability performance. The research explores how sustainable procurement, eco-friendly logistics, energy-efficient operations, waste reduction strategies, and circular resource management contribute to environmental and operational improvements. A conceptual analytical framework supported by simulated observations is developed to evaluate the influence of green supply chain practices on industrial sustainability outcomes. The findings indicate that sustainable procurement, waste reduction capability, energy-efficient logistics, circular resource utilization, and environmental performance monitoring significantly contribute to industrial sustainability improvement. However, challenges including implementation costs, supplier coordination difficulties, technology limitations, data transparency issues, and organizational resistance continue to influence adoption. The study contributes to sustainable engineering and supply chain management research by highlighting the importance of integrating environmental considerations into industrial supply chain design. The findings provide practical implications for manufacturers, supply chain managers, policymakers, and sustainability professionals seeking effective approaches for achieving long-term industrial sustainability. |
