| Abstract | Adolescence represents a critical developmental stage where dietary habits, nutritional awareness, and health-related behaviors are established and often continue into adulthood. Increasing consumption of processed foods, sedentary lifestyles, irregular meal patterns, and limited understanding of nutritional requirements have contributed to growing concerns regarding adolescent health. Nutrition literacy has emerged as an important factor influencing young individuals’ ability to understand, evaluate, and apply nutrition-related information for making healthy dietary choices. This study examines the relationship between nutrition literacy and healthy dietary behavior among adolescents. The research explores how nutritional knowledge, food decision-making skills, health education exposure, family influence, and school-based nutrition programs contribute to improved dietary practices. A conceptual analytical framework supported by simulated observations is developed to evaluate the contribution of nutrition literacy toward promoting healthier dietary behaviors among adolescents. The findings indicate that nutrition literacy, school-based nutrition education, family support, and awareness of healthy food choices significantly influence dietary behavior improvement. However, challenges including limited nutrition education, unhealthy food environments, peer influence, socioeconomic differences, and inadequate access to healthy food options continue to affect adolescent dietary practices. The study contributes to public health nutrition and adolescent health research by highlighting the importance of improving nutrition literacy as a foundation for developing lifelong healthy eating behaviors. The findings provide practical implications for schools, healthcare professionals, families, and policymakers seeking effective strategies for improving adolescent nutrition outcomes. |
