| Abstract | The increasing complexity of modern healthcare systems has created a strong need for effective information management and coordinated care delivery. Electronic Health Records (EHRs) have emerged as essential digital healthcare tools that enable secure storage, sharing, and management of patient information across healthcare providers and organizations. By improving access to accurate and timely health information, EHR systems have the potential to strengthen communication, reduce medical errors, and enhance continuity of care. This study examines the role of Electronic Health Records in improving healthcare coordination. The research explores how digital patient information management, healthcare provider communication, clinical information accessibility, care transition support, and decision-making assistance influence healthcare coordination outcomes. A conceptual analytical framework supported by simulated observations is developed to evaluate the contribution of EHR systems toward improving integrated healthcare delivery. The findings indicate that EHR adoption positively influences healthcare coordination by improving information availability, supporting collaboration among healthcare professionals, enhancing patient data accessibility, and promoting efficient care management. However, challenges including data security concerns, interoperability limitations, implementation costs, workflow disruption, and user acceptance issues continue to affect successful adoption. The study contributes to healthcare informatics research by highlighting the importance of EHR systems in developing coordinated, efficient, and patient-centered healthcare environments. The findings provide practical implications for healthcare organizations, administrators, clinicians, and policymakers seeking effective strategies for digital healthcare transformation. |
