| Abstract | The increasing importance of equitable access to education has accelerated the adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER) as a transformative approach for expanding knowledge accessibility and reducing educational inequalities. Open Educational Resources provide freely available teaching, learning, and research materials that can be accessed, adapted, and shared by educators and learners worldwide. These resources have the potential to reshape traditional knowledge distribution systems by promoting affordability, collaboration, and inclusive learning opportunities. This study examines the role of Open Educational Resources in the democratization of knowledge. The research explores how open access materials, digital accessibility, content adaptability, collaborative knowledge creation, and educational affordability influence learning equity and knowledge participation. A conceptual analytical framework supported by simulated observations is developed to evaluate the contribution of OER toward improving educational accessibility. The findings indicate that OER positively contributes to knowledge democratization by reducing learning barriers, improving resource availability, supporting flexible learning approaches, and encouraging collaborative educational practices. However, challenges including quality assurance, digital inequality, copyright complexities, institutional support limitations, and awareness gaps continue to affect widespread adoption. The study contributes to open education and digital learning research by highlighting the importance of OER as a mechanism for creating more inclusive and accessible knowledge ecosystems. The findings provide practical implications for educational institutions, policymakers, educators, and knowledge organizations seeking sustainable approaches for expanding educational opportunities. |
