Abstract The rapid transformation of digital workplaces has created increasing demand for continuous employee learning and skill development. Traditional training approaches often face limitations related to time availability, employee engagement, and changing workplace requirements. Microlearning has emerged as an innovative learning approach that delivers short, focused, and easily accessible learning experiences designed to support continuous professional development.
This study examines the role of microlearning in enhancing employee skill development within digital workplaces. The research explores how short learning modules, personalized content delivery, mobile accessibility, frequent knowledge reinforcement, and performance-based learning activities influence employee competencies. A conceptual analytical framework supported by simulated observations is developed to evaluate the contribution of microlearning toward improving workplace learning outcomes.
The findings indicate that microlearning positively influences employee skill development by improving learning flexibility, knowledge retention, engagement, and continuous competency improvement. However, challenges including content design limitations, lack of learner motivation, technology adoption issues, and difficulties in measuring long-term learning outcomes continue to affect effective implementation.
The study contributes to workplace learning and digital transformation research by explaining how microlearning can support agile skill development in modern organizations. The findings provide practical implications for human resource professionals, organizational leaders, and learning designers seeking effective strategies for employee development in technology-driven workplaces.
