Climate Risk Disclosure and Financial Market Decision-Making

| Abstract | Climate change has emerged as a significant factor influencing financial markets, investment decisions, corporate strategies, and risk management practices. Increasing exposure to climate-related physical and transition risks has encouraged organizations and financial institutions to improve climate risk disclosure practices. Transparent disclosure enables investors and stakeholders to evaluate environmental risks, assess corporate resilience, and make informed financial decisions. This study examines the relationship between climate risk disclosure and financial market decision-making. The research explores how climate-related information, sustainability reporting, risk assessment frameworks, environmental performance indicators, and disclosure quality influence investor behaviour and market responses. A conceptual analytical framework supported by simulated observations is developed to evaluate the contribution of climate risk disclosure toward improving financial decision-making. The findings indicate that effective climate risk disclosure can enhance investor confidence, improve risk assessment, and support more sustainable capital allocation decisions. Organizations providing transparent climate-related information are more likely to strengthen market credibility and reduce uncertainty among investors. However, challenges including inconsistent reporting standards, measurement difficulties, data limitations, and disclosure quality differences continue to affect the effectiveness of climate risk communication. The study contributes to sustainable finance and corporate governance literature by explaining how climate information influences financial market behaviour. The findings provide practical implications for corporations, investors, regulators, and financial institutions seeking improved approaches to climate-related risk management and investment decision-making. |
