Abstract The increasing environmental challenges associated with economic growth have encouraged financial systems to adopt sustainable approaches that integrate environmental, social, and economic considerations into investment decisions. Green finance has emerged as an important mechanism for supporting sustainable economic development by directing financial resources toward environmentally responsible projects, renewable energy initiatives, sustainable infrastructure, and climate-friendly business activities. Through instruments such as green bonds, sustainable investment funds, and environmental financing frameworks, green finance aims to promote economic growth while reducing ecological damage.
This study examines the relationship between green finance and sustainable economic development by exploring how environmentally responsible financial practices contribute to economic stability, resource efficiency, and long-term development outcomes. The research evaluates the role of sustainable investment mechanisms, renewable energy financing, environmental risk management, and green financial policies in promoting sustainable economic progress. A conceptual analytical framework supported by simulated observations is developed to examine the influence of green finance factors on sustainable development indicators.
The findings indicate that green finance contributes positively to sustainable economic development by encouraging responsible investment behaviour, supporting clean technologies, and improving environmental performance. However, challenges such as regulatory limitations, greenwashing risks, limited awareness, and insufficient sustainable financial infrastructure continue to influence effective implementation.
The study contributes to sustainable finance literature by explaining the strategic importance of financial systems in achieving environmental and economic objectives simultaneously. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, financial institutions, investors, and organizations seeking to integrate sustainability principles into financial decision-making.
