Digital Financial Inclusion and Household Economic Resilience

| Abstract | Digital financial inclusion has emerged as a significant factor influencing household economic stability, particularly in environments where traditional financial access remains limited. The expansion of digital payment systems, mobile banking platforms, electronic financial services, and technology-enabled financial solutions has created new opportunities for households to participate in formal financial systems. By improving access to savings, credit, insurance, and payment facilities, digital financial inclusion contributes to strengthening household capacity to manage economic uncertainty and financial shocks. This study examines the relationship between digital financial inclusion and household economic resilience. The research explores how digital access, financial service availability, digital literacy, and financial management capabilities influence households’ ability to withstand economic challenges. A conceptual analytical framework supported by simulated observations is developed to evaluate the contribution of digital financial services toward improving household financial stability. The findings indicate that digital financial inclusion enhances economic resilience by improving financial accessibility, encouraging savings behaviour, and enabling faster responses during periods of financial stress. The study highlights that technology-driven financial inclusion is not only a mechanism for expanding financial access but also an important instrument for promoting economic empowerment and resilience. However, challenges related to digital literacy, cybersecurity risks, infrastructure limitations, and unequal technology access continue to influence the effectiveness of digital financial inclusion initiatives. The research contributes to development economics and financial inclusion literature by explaining the role of digital financial ecosystems in strengthening household-level economic security. The findings provide practical insights for policymakers, financial institutions, and development organizations seeking to design inclusive digital financial strategies. |
