Abstract Digital transformation has significantly changed entrepreneurial opportunities by enabling individuals to establish, manage, and expand businesses through technology-based platforms. Women’s participation in entrepreneurship has become increasingly important for economic development, social inclusion, and community empowerment. Digital entrepreneurship provides women with new possibilities through online marketplaces, digital financial services, social media-based businesses, and technology-enabled professional networks. This study examines the role of digital entrepreneurship in promoting women’s empowerment by analysing how technology-driven business models influence economic independence, decision-making ability, skill development, and social participation.
The study adopts a conceptual research approach based on existing literature related to women entrepreneurship, digital transformation, financial inclusion, and socioeconomic development. The analysis focuses on major dimensions of digital entrepreneurship, including digital skills, online business platforms, access to digital resources, financial technology adoption, and entrepreneurial capability development.
The findings indicate that digital entrepreneurship can strengthen women’s empowerment by reducing traditional barriers associated with geographical limitations, market access, and resource constraints. Women entrepreneurs using digital platforms can access wider customer networks, improve income opportunities, and develop greater economic autonomy. However, challenges such as digital literacy gaps, limited access to technology, cybersecurity concerns, and financial barriers continue to affect successful participation.
The study highlights that digital entrepreneurship represents an important pathway for advancing women’s economic empowerment in contemporary societies. Supportive policies, digital education, financial inclusion initiatives, and entrepreneurial training are essential for creating an inclusive digital economy where women can actively participate and succeed.
