| Abstract | Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) represent a significant component of global economic development by contributing to employment generation, innovation, and regional growth. In increasingly competitive business environments, SMEs must continuously improve their products, services, processes, and organizational strategies to maintain market relevance. Innovation management has emerged as a critical capability that enables SMEs to identify opportunities, utilize resources effectively, and develop sustainable competitive advantages. This conceptual study examines innovation management practices in small and medium-sized enterprises through perspectives of entrepreneurship, strategic management, organizational learning, and innovation theory. The study analyses how innovation strategies, knowledge management, leadership support, resource allocation, and collaborative networks influence SME innovation performance. The findings indicate that successful innovation management in SMEs depends on the integration of strategic vision, organizational flexibility, employee involvement, and effective knowledge utilization. Unlike large enterprises, SMEs often possess advantages such as faster decision-making, entrepreneurial flexibility, and closer customer relationships; however, they also face limitations related to financial constraints, limited technological capabilities, and restricted access to innovation resources. The study highlights that innovation management practices help SMEs overcome competitive pressures by encouraging creativity, improving operational efficiency, and supporting business growth. However, effective innovation requires structured approaches rather than isolated innovative activities. SMEs must develop supportive cultures, invest in employee capabilities, and establish external collaborations to strengthen innovation capacity. The study concludes that innovation management represents a strategic necessity for SMEs seeking sustainable development. Organizations that effectively manage innovation processes can improve adaptability, enhance customer value, and strengthen their position in dynamic markets. |
