Organizational Resilience during Economic and Technological Disruption

| Abstract | The contemporary business environment is increasingly characterized by economic uncertainty, technological transformation, competitive pressure, and rapidly changing stakeholder expectations. Organizations across industries face continuous disruptions arising from market instability, financial uncertainty, supply chain challenges, automation, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation. Under such conditions, organizational resilience has emerged as a critical strategic capability that enables organizations to anticipate challenges, maintain operational continuity, adapt effectively, and develop sustainable growth opportunities. This study examines organizational resilience during economic and technological disruption through a conceptual analysis of strategic management theories, organizational behaviour research, crisis management perspectives, and digital transformation literature. The study focuses on the role of adaptive capability, technological readiness, leadership effectiveness, organizational learning, and innovation capacity in strengthening resilience. The analysis demonstrates that organizational resilience is not limited to recovering from disruptive events; rather, it represents a continuous capability involving anticipation, adaptation, transformation, and learning. Organizations with flexible structures, digitally enabled processes, supportive leadership, and innovation-oriented cultures are better positioned to manage uncertainty and maintain competitive performance. The study further highlights that technology alone cannot guarantee resilience. Effective resilience requires integration between digital capabilities, human resources, strategic flexibility, and organizational culture. However, organizations face several challenges, including resistance to change, limited resources, cybersecurity risks, skill gaps, and difficulties in balancing short-term performance objectives with long-term sustainability. The study concludes that organizational resilience has become a fundamental source of competitive advantage in uncertain business environments. Organizations that invest in adaptive strategies, digital transformation, employee capabilities, and continuous learning can successfully navigate economic and technological disruptions while creating sustainable organizational value. |
