| Abstract | The rapid expansion of digital technologies has transformed traditional business structures and accelerated the emergence of the platform economy. Digital platforms have reshaped how organizations create, deliver, and capture value by enabling interactions among multiple stakeholder groups, including consumers, producers, service providers, and technology ecosystems. In this environment, business model innovation has become essential for organizations seeking sustainable growth, competitive advantage, and adaptability. This study examines business model innovation in the platform economy through a conceptual analysis of digital transformation literature, strategic management theories, platform business frameworks, and innovation research. The study explores how platform-based organizations develop new value creation mechanisms through network effects, ecosystem coordination, data-driven strategies, and customer-centric approaches. The analysis indicates that successful platform business models depend on the integration of digital infrastructure, ecosystem management, scalable operations, and continuous innovation. Unlike traditional linear business models, platform-based models create value by facilitating interactions between different user groups and leveraging network participation. However, organizations face challenges related to platform governance, data privacy, competitive pressure, regulatory uncertainty, and maintaining stakeholder trust. The study concludes that business model innovation is a critical capability for organizations operating in the platform economy. Companies that effectively manage digital ecosystems, encourage stakeholder participation, and continuously adapt their value propositions can achieve sustainable competitive advantage. Future business success will increasingly depend on organizations’ ability to innovate beyond products and services toward dynamic platform-based ecosystems. |
