Knowledge Management and Organizational Learning in Hybrid Workplaces

Abstract The emergence of hybrid workplaces has significantly transformed how organisations create, share, store, and apply knowledge. The combination of remote and physical work arrangements has introduced new opportunities for flexibility and collaboration while also creating challenges related to communication, knowledge accessibility, organisational learning, and employee engagement. In this evolving work environment, effective knowledge management has become essential for maintaining organisational capabilities and supporting continuous learning. This study examines the relationship between knowledge management and organisational learning in hybrid workplaces through a conceptual analysis of existing research in knowledge systems, organisational behaviour, digital collaboration, and workplace transformation. The study explores how knowledge creation, knowledge sharing, digital platforms, collaborative practices, and learning cultures contribute to organisational adaptability in distributed work environments.
The analysis indicates that successful hybrid workplaces require integrated knowledge management strategies that combine technological infrastructure with supportive organisational practices. Digital collaboration tools, knowledge repositories, communities of practice, and leadership support play important roles in ensuring that employees can access and exchange knowledge effectively regardless of physical location. However, challenges related to information silos, reduced informal interactions, technology gaps, and cultural differences may limit effective organisational learning. The study concludes that knowledge management and organisational learning are interconnected capabilities that enable organisations to remain adaptive in hybrid work environments. Organisations that develop strong knowledge-sharing cultures and effective digital learning ecosystems can improve innovation, employee collaboration, and long-term organisational resilience.
