Data Visualization and Evidence-Based Managerial Decision-Making

| Abstract | The increasing availability of digital data has transformed the process of managerial decision-making in contemporary organisations. Businesses now generate large volumes of structured and unstructured information through customer interactions, operational activities, financial systems, and digital platforms. However, the effective use of this information depends not only on data availability but also on the ability to interpret complex datasets and convert analytical insights into meaningful strategic decisions. Data visualization has emerged as a powerful analytical approach that enables managers to identify patterns, understand trends, evaluate performance, and communicate evidence-based insights effectively. This study examines the role of data visualization in strengthening evidence-based managerial decision-making. The research adopts a conceptual approach based on the analysis of existing academic literature, business intelligence frameworks, and analytical practices. The study explores how visualization techniques such as dashboards, interactive reports, predictive analytics interfaces, and performance indicators support managerial understanding and improve organisational responsiveness. The study also highlights important challenges associated with data visualization, including information overload, poor data quality, interpretation bias, technological limitations, and the need for analytical skills among managers. The research concludes that data visualization should be considered not merely as a presentation technique but as a strategic capability that connects data analytics with managerial intelligence. Organisations that develop strong visualization practices can achieve improved decision quality, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage in increasingly data-driven business environments. |
