Abstract The rapid expansion of digital healthcare ecosystems has transformed the management, storage, and exchange of medical information. Electronic health records, telemedicine platforms, wearable healthcare devices, and artificial intelligence-based clinical systems have improved healthcare accessibility and decision-making efficiency; however, they have also introduced significant privacy and security challenges. Sensitive healthcare data are continuously exposed to risks including unauthorized access, data breaches, identity disclosure, and inappropriate secondary usage.
This research examines privacy-preserving technologies designed to strengthen security and trust in digital healthcare systems. The study analyses the role of advanced approaches including federated learning, blockchain-based security frameworks, homomorphic encryption, differential privacy, and secure multi-party computation in protecting healthcare information while maintaining analytical utility. A simulation-based evaluation framework is developed to compare conventional centralized healthcare data systems with privacy-enhanced architectures across security strength, data confidentiality, computational efficiency, and trust improvement indicators.
The findings indicate that privacy-preserving frameworks substantially improve healthcare data protection while enabling collaborative medical intelligence without direct exposure of sensitive patient records. The study highlights that future digital healthcare infrastructures require balanced integration of technological innovation, ethical governance, and privacy-by-design principles to achieve secure, reliable, and patient-centred healthcare services.
