Artificial Intelligence–Driven Decision Support Systems for Sustainable Organizational Growth

Abstract Organizations increasingly operate within environments characterized by volatile markets, resource constraints, regulatory pressure, technological disruption, and heightened stakeholder expectations. Conventional decision-support approaches often rely on fragmented historical information and managerial judgment, limiting their capacity to recognize complex relationships among financial performance, environmental responsibility, workforce well-being, operational resilience, and long-term value creation. This study develops an integrated conceptual framework for artificial intelligence–driven decision support systems designed to facilitate sustainable organizational growth. The proposed framework combines predictive analytics, machine learning, natural language processing, optimization models, explainable artificial intelligence, and human managerial oversight. A simulation-based analytical design is used to examine how different levels of AI-enabled decision-support maturity may influence operational efficiency, environmental performance, workforce capability, strategic responsiveness, and governance quality.
A composite Sustainable Organizational Growth Index is introduced to evaluate these dimensions without reducing sustainability to short-term financial performance. The simulated assessment indicates that a governed and human-supervised AI decision-support configuration could improve the composite index from 61.2 under conventional decision-making to 85.7 under an integrated AI-supported approach. The largest modeled improvements occur in strategic responsiveness and resource efficiency, although governance quality depends strongly on data integrity, explainability, accountability, and continuous human review. The paper argues that AI does not independently produce sustainable growth. Its contribution arises when analytical intelligence is embedded within responsible governance, stakeholder-oriented strategy, organizational learning, and measurable sustainability objectives. The proposed framework offers a theoretically grounded basis for future empirical testing across organizations and industries.
